Macao to Step up Tourism Cooperation with Guangdong

Macao and Guangdong had agreed on several measures to boost regional tourism, said Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Chui Sai On today (17 Feb) after a meeting with vice-Governor of Guangdong Province, Tang Bingquan today.

Mr. Chui and a 24-member delegation today arrived in Guangzhou where they had meetings with the vice-Governor of Guangdong Province, Tang Bingquan and the director of Guangdong Tourism Administration, Zheng Tongyang respectively.

In order to facilitates the tourism industry, said Mr. Chui, both sides had agreed to have mutual visits at least once a year to reinforce collaboration, adding that Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao would jointly participate in International Tourism Exhibitions to promote Pearl River Delta regional tourism. He reiterated that the MSAR Government would fully support the tourism development of the two territories.

He also said that both sides had agreed to maintain regular exchanges and updates on-line tourism information for easy access on to the Internet.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chui introduced to Mr. Tang the operation at the two checkpoints between the SAR and the Mainland, and recent tourism developments in Macao.

The delegation also visited the new Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center and attended a banquet hosted by Guangdong Tourism Administration.
