SAR Government strives to combat crime in tourism

The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Chui Sai On, emphasized today (5 May) that the authorities would strive to combat any unlawful activities in the tourism sector and would promote better services to boost the industry.

The Government has been concerned with unlawful activities recently discovered in the tourism sector. Mr. Chui stated that joint operations involving different government departments would be undertaken in order to combat these activities.

Mr. Chui said that it is important that travel agencies cooperate with the Government to help develop tourism in Macao, adding that the Government would also increase the quality of tourist attractions and would provide better services for tourists.

He also said that to develop the gaming and tourism industry is one of the most important task of the government, adding that the Government would provide assistance necessary to encourage investment in Macao. Mr. Chui said that the Government would provided training courses for tourism workers to upgrade their skills.

Mr. Chui stated that the Macau Tourism Awareness Campaign commended this year was to encourage citizens to participate in the enhancement of tourism in Macao.
