"EUREKA [meets] ASIA 2002" will take place in Macao from 25th to 29th November of this year. The activities will include a forum, thematic workshops and a technological exhibition, with the participation of universities, institutes of scientific investigation and enterprises mainly from Europe and Asia.
This year's theme is "Green Enterprises for Sustainable Development," which will include the three areas of environmental protection (green city), natural medicine (life sciences) and information technology.
The environmental protection field will include conception, installation, technology and necessary products to build a green city, community or enterprise.
The natural medicine area will comprise medicine and food based natural products, mainly botanical products, dietary supplements, and food with functional characteristics, herbaceous products and Chinese medicine.
Information technology will present the developments in software related to the management of a green city, natural medicine and the tourism industry, including environmental management and control in an urban surrounding, management of a digitalised community or residence and traffic management.
This is the third edition of the "EUREKA [meets] ASIA" convention in Macao. The 1998 conference and the 2000 conference were aided by the Ministries for Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China and Portugal. Over 500 institutes of scientific investigation and universities from Europe and Asia have participated in this event in the past.
The "EUREKA" programme is a network for industrial research and development within the scope of Europe, consisting of 26 European countries and the European Union.
