The MSAR Government Policy Address for 2019 advocated enhancing all aspects of smart city development and encouraging society's joint participation in developing a smart city.

Regarding smart governance, the “One-stop Public Services Account” enables citizens to access various e-services of the MSAR Government, such as online bookings, licence applications and renewals, and enquiries regarding progress with applications, via the website or mobile phone apps.

The use of electronic payment continues expanding, including for car parking, bus rides, retail consumption, and applications for services at government departments.

The Government also expedites the implementation of smart policing, including through installing “sky eye” in phases, to enhance infrastructure and ensure public security and safety.

Smart policing is implemented to strengthen police infrastructure, information gathering and investigations, together with boosting command and control, and police administration.

The Government also facilitates smart transport through optimising the transportation system, coordinating transport and road works, as well as providing smart commuting services.

Artificial intelligence technology is applied for investigating traffic light time intervals, to streamline overall road traffic.

Citizens and tourists may use mobile phone apps to check bus arrival times and real time traffic conditions on major roads, to make better choices for commuting.

Tourism departments also provide apps for the convenience of tourists, so they can be aware of real time crowds at various tourist attractions, enabling better itinerary planning.

Regarding smart healthcare, the medical and health department utilises big data, purchases sufficient vaccines prior to the influenza pandemic season, and provides scientific data to support decisions on medical services.
