Greta Mok Seng Peng, an associate professor from the University of Macau (UM) Faculty Science and Technology, who is also a joint associate professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences, recently received the Tracy Lynn Faber Memorial Award at the 65^th Annual Meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). She also received the International Best Abstract Award for the second consecutive year for her work titled ‘Comparison of Different Tc-99m-MAA Imaging Protocols for Y-90 SIRT Treatment Planning’.

The Tracy Lynn Faber Memorial Award is presented to female scientists who have made significant contributions to the field of medical imaging sciences. Prof Mok is the fourth scholar (previous recipients include scholars from Harvard University, Emory University and Vanderbilt University), and the first Chinese scholar, to ever receive this prestigious award. During the award ceremony, Prof Mok thanked her PhD supervisor, Prof Benjamim Tsui, for his mentorship and her research team at UM for their continuous effort. She also gave a keynote speech on her latest research findings. The International Best Abstract Award is presented to abstracts with the highest scores from their respective regions. The SNMMI is the most influential international conference in the fields of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. This year’s meeting attracted near 6,000 scholars and physicians from 41 countries and regions and received over 2,000 abstract submissions.

Prof Mok’s research team has won multiple awards in international academic events in recent years, including the only first prize at the Third Asian Nuclear Medicine Academic Forum, the International Best Abstract Award at the SNMMI’s 64^th annual meeting, and the third prize at the Computer and Instrumentation Council Young Investigator Award. This shows the international recognition of the team’s research capacity and contributions to the development of novel imaging techniques for clinical nuclear medicine.
