  • The Macao Government holds each year vibrant celebrations to welcome Lunar New Year. For the Year of the Pig, the organisers are the Macao Government Tourism Office and the Municipal Affairs Bureau.
    A gigantic dragon parade is always one of the exciting activities to mark the Lunar New Year. Here, the vigorous movement of a 238-metre-long dragon mascot symbolises the flourishing of Macao and its future prosperity.

  • A different dragon is paraded at the Ruins of St. Paul’s, one of the city’s landmarks, bringing to residents and visitors the joyful spirit of the season.

  • A traditional lion dance is held at the festively-decorated Senado Square, another Macao landmark. The dance conveys to residents and visitors alike the energy and spirit of the season.

  • Teams taking part in the "Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Pig" gather at major tourist attractions ahead of the event.
    For the main Lunar New Year parade this year, a team of performers from Japan present a lively spectacle against the background of the Ruins of St. Paul’s.

  • A team of performance artists from the Netherlands turns Senado Square into a colourful outdoor theatre, presenting a dazzling show in this festive season.

  • A show at Anim’Arte NAM VAN by a Slovakian group is well received by children.

  • Performers from France in bright-red garb provide their own take on the local festive season.

  • The French team’s show in front of A Ma Temple provides to the public numerous opportunities for photographs.
