In order to carry forward the spirit of helping others, promote the culture of respecting elders, and support the establishment of an inclusive society, Seniors Academy continues to optimize the elderly volunteer team and encourage elderly students to participate in voluntary work. A few days ago, ACS organized the volunteer students to visit the Cheerful Home and was welcomed by the elders and staff of the institution.

During the visit, the volunteers of the Seniors Academy prepared a number of performances for the elders, including performing elderly health exercises and Chinese dance, playing the harmonica, Qinqin and erhu, singing a number of nostalgic songs, etc. The volunteers made an all-out effort to perform, and received lots of applause from the audience. Last but not the least, the volunteers communicated with the elders in groups and expressed warm wishes to each other. The visit ended in a warm and pleasant atmosphere.

The elders visited this time are mostly with limited mobility, but they all enjoyed the performances and responded enthusiastically. For the volunteers, they expressed their gratitude to the Macao SAR government’s attention and investment in elderly education, which has made it possible for them to return to school, enrich and renew their knowledge, and have the chance to share and show the knowledge and skills they have learned to others, moreover, bring joy and care to more people. In the future, the volunteer team of Seniors Academy will continue to uphold the concept of giving back to the society, carry forward the concept of " Promoting a Sense of Worthiness among the Elders ", apply what they have learned in class, care for the community, and contribute to building an inclusive society.
