The Health Bureau today (20 April) denied a newspaper report in Taiwan that a Taiwanese man had seek medical advise but refuse to be treated in the Public Conde S. Januario Hospital in Macao.

The Health Bureau indicated that the man, named Li Youcheng, had arrived at Macao at 17:00, 18 April and had left the territory at about 40 minutes later, and had not reenter Macao ever since.

There was no record of the man consulting in either one of the two hospitals in Macao, according to the press release from the Health Bureau.

The man was reported to have went to the emergency room of the public Conde S. Januario Hospital with fever, and had refused to stay in the hospital for treatment after being diagnosed to be suffering from bronchitis and ulcer in the throat.

The Health Bureau stressed that false information could affect the efficiency of SARS preventions taken by the authority and urged the public not to circulate baseless information.
