The Health Bureau announced today (19 April) that over 10,000 people have had their temperature taken upon arrival at Macao in the three main checkpoints.

According to the press release, a visitor from Zhuhai with body temperature over 38º Celsius were advised to go to the Conde S. Januario Hospital for further checkup and X-ray, but the visitor preferred to return to Zhuhai and seek medical advise there.

Preventive measures against SARS in the three main check points were stepped up during the four-day Easter Holiday when more visitors were expected to come to Macao, aiming at greater protection for the public from SARS.

According to the press release, more then 5,000 people have had their temperature measured at the Border Gate, while over 3,500 and about 500 have had their temperature taken at the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and the Macau International Airport respectively

The press release also indicated that no SARS case or suspected case was found in the check points today (up to 17:00) although five inquiries were answered at the consultation posts in the 24 hours prior to that.

No SARS cases were recognized in Macao up to this point. The press release confirmed.
