The Health Bureau announced today (18 April) that over 11,000 people have had their temperature taken upon arrival at Macao in the three main checkpoints.

According to the press release, a visitor from Hong Kong were found to have a fever of 38º Celsius and were sent to the Conde S. Januario Hospital for further checkup and X-ray, which confirmed that he did not suffers from pneumonia.

Preventive measures against SARS in the three main check points were stepped up during the four-day Easter Holiday when more visitors were expected to come to Macao, aiming at greater protection for the public from SARS.

According to the press release, more then 5,000 people had their temperature measured at the Border Gate and the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal respectively and 462 at the Macau International Airport.

The press release also indicated that no SARS case or suspected case was found in the check points today (up to 17:00) although two inquiries were answered at the consultation post in the Border Gate last evening.

No SARS cases were recognized in Macao up to this point. The press release confirmed.
