Reinforcing Macao Guangdong Cooperation

Chief Executive Edmund Ho today (16 April) met with the Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Tang Bingquan, at the Government Headquarters, to talk over topics that concern the two regions.

Mr. Ho conveyed a warm welcome to the Guangdong delegation and appreciated the Provincial Government’s enthusiastic support to Macao. He said that the future is broad and prosperous for the cooperation between Macao and Guangdong, adding that the Cross Border Industrial Zone and the development of Hengqin Island had exemplified this mutually benefiting relationship.

The Chief Executive stressed that cooperating with Guangdong province in different aspects was the key to Macao’s future development, adding the “Western Guangdong Famous Products Fair” which opened today was a new benchmark in the path of Macao and Guangdong cooperation.

Mr. Tang remarked the cooperation between Macao and Guangdong in five points: “excellent result, great potential, well timing, numerous business opportunities and broad perspective”, adding that it is important to reinforce the cooperation.

The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Francis Tam, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Chui Sai On and the Chief of the Chief Executive Office, Ho Veng On attended the meeting.

The Western Guangdong Famous Products Fair is held in Macao from 17th to 22nd April, aiming at strengthening Macao’s role as Western Guangdong’s business platform and to promote the economic and trade link between Macao and various Western Guangdong cities.
