Chief Executive, Edmund Ho said at the autumn reception held by the U.S. General Consulate on Thursday the two governments will continue to cooperate closely in various areas.
Mr. Ho said that Macau SAR and the US government have been maintaining a good relationship, adding that cooperation in many areas would be reinforced in the future.
He also said that the Macau SAR would completely support and cooperate the Central Government's poisition against terrorism.
The U.S. Consul General Michael Klosson said that the reception is a celebration of the strong friendship and cooperation between the United States and Macau.
We received many expressions of sympathy and condolence from government's leaders, business people, and ordinary citizens after the heinous terrorists attacks of September 11, said Mr. Klosson.
The United States is moving swiftly to assemble an international coalition against terrorism and is asking every government of goodwill, including Macau, to join us to ensure the safety of Americans and others who reside here to steps that prevent any flow of funds to terrorist networks.
Mr. Klosson also praised the SAR Government's preparation that results in a smooth and successful conduct of the Election on Sunday, adding that the large voter turnout reflected a desire by the people of Macau to participate actively in the political process and to express their democratic aspirations.
