The Security Police last night detained seven Pakistanis suspected of the involvement in a theft group, among which four were found holding expired visas.
Spokesperson of the Security Police confirmed at a press conference held today that the action was taken in respond to a number of reports concerning overstaying foreigners, which indicated these individuals were suspected of being involved in a theft group.
Police took a raid at a residential flat in the center of Macau Peninsula according to information which reported a place where a group of foreigners gathered.
The spokesperson said that seven men were detained in a series of actions taken in different locations, among the detained, four were later found overstaying, adding they would be repatriated according to Macau's immigration regulations.
The spokesperson also said that some media reports about the action taken last night did not conform to the actual situation, thus need to be clarified.
