Acting Chief Executive, Ms. Florinda Chan today visited the Portuguese lawyer, Mr. Neto Valente who was rescued by the police earlier this morning and is now receiving medical treatment in the Conde de S. Januá/;rio Hospital.

Ms. Chan stressed that the SAR Government was confident in maintaining the public order and the rule of law in the SAR.

She praised the efforts had been made by the police in this incident, pointing out that it had proven that Macau police forces was capable of fighting against any unlawful act and safeguarding the safety of all residents living in the Macau SAR.

Ms. Chan expressed the great concern and best regards to Mr. Valente, on be half of Chief Executive, Mr. Edmund Ho Hau Wah.

Ms. Chan said that she was delighted that Mr. Valente was rescued safely, adding that the lawyer was in good condition.

Ms. Chan was accompanied by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Mr. Chui Sai On and Director of the Hospital, Mr. Kui Kuok Ieng
