U. S. Consul General keens of links with Macau

The U. S. Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau, Michael Klosson said in the Autumn Reception that the United States was very keen of economic and commercial links with Macau.

The U. S. Consul General held the Autumn Reception in Macau on the 25th September. Michael Klosson admired the cooperation of the Government of Macau in combating Intellectural Property Rights piracy, as well as Macau Government¡¦s effort to combat illegal textile transshipment. He also announced in his speech that the two governments had reached agreement on a Memorandum of Understanding on Textile Transshipment Cooperation.

About the cooperation in law enforcement, the Consul General indicated that the law enforcement agencies at the Consulate appreciated the productive relationships with the Macau counterparts. They were looking forward to work with the new Customs Services of the SAR in future.

Besides, the eight members of the Amercian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong¡¦s Leadership Delegation also made their first official visit to Macau on the same day. Michael Klosson expected that it would be the beginning of a very fruitful relationship. He would also encourage American officials to visit Macau, to become familiar with the unique historical and cultural diversity, as well as the success of the SAR.

Michael Klosson was assigned as the U. S. Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau last year. This was the second time for him to host the Autumn Reception in Macau.
