The Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) of the University of Macau (UM) held its Alumni Gala Dinner. The event brought together more than 250 alumni, faculty members and students, advisory board members, industry partners, and distinguished guests. It provided an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with their alma mater, expand their professional networks, and celebrate the university’s 45th anniversary.

In his welcome address, Rui Martins, vice rector of UM, expressed his delight at seeing different generations of FBA alumni reunite. He described the event as a meaningful occasion that connected the past, present, and future of the faculty, and reflected the strong support and sense of belonging that alumni have for the university and the faculty. He noted that the development of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the establishment of a cross-border ‘one university, two campuses’ model will provide UM with new opportunities for interdisciplinary research, industry-academia collaboration, and regional integration. He also thanked the faculty’s advisory board members, industry partners, and alumni for their continued support and contributions to the university’s development.

Jun Yu, dean of FBA, thanked alumni for their long-standing support, praised their outstanding achievements in various professional fields, and highlighted the important role they play in enhancing the faculty’s reputation and influence both locally and internationally. He also expressed appreciation to the faculty’s advisory board members and industry partners for their strategic guidance and support in ensuring that FBA’s academic programmes remain relevant and closely connected to industry needs.

During the event, Yu also presented FBA’s recent developments and achievements, including the launch of joint degree programmes, the continued growth of the faculty team, and efforts to enhance the faculty’s academic reputation and international standing. He also outlined the faculty’s strategic vision and development goals towards 2030 and encouraged alumni to maintain close ties with the faculty, contribute to its future growth and success, and help cultivate more business professionals with a global vision and innovative capabilities.

The evening featured a vibrant programme, including a networking reception, classical music performances, and a lucky draw, offering alumni from different graduating classes the opportunity to reconnect with former classmates and teachers, as well as strengthening ties with faculty members, current students, and industry leaders.

The event was co-organised by the University of Macau DBA Alumni Association, the University of Macau EMBA Alumni Association, and the University of Macau MBA Alumni Association Organising Committee. It was sponsored by several FBA alumni, including Garrick Wong, president of the University of Macau DBA Alumni Association; Cynthia Chong, president of the University of Macau EMBA Alumni Association; Acen Jiang, president of the University of Macau MBA Alumni Association Organising Committee; Danny Chau, vice president of the University of Macau Alumni Association; and Jorge Valente, alumnus of the Master of Business Administration programme.
