The 22nd China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) is held from 21 to 25 May at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Centre. The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) of the Macao SAR Government has set up the “Macao Pavilion” at the fair to showcase Macao’s unique cultural heritage, the transmission of intangible cultural heritage, cultural events, and the local cultural and creative industries.

IC has set up the “Macao Pavilion” in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cultural Industries Innovation Exhibition Hall. Themed “Cultural Macao”, the Pavilion covers an area of approximately 300 square meters, introducing the “Historic Centre of Macao Route”, promoting Macao’s major cultural events and branded activities, displaying and selling distinctive cultural and creative products which incorporate elements of Macao’s World Heritage and intangible cultural heritage. An “Old Macao” interactive installation is also available onsite, offering scenery backdrops of the old city for the public to take photos and create composite images, allowing them to experience the appeal of urban transformation. In addition, the Pavilion features various demonstrations and performances of Macao’s intangible cultural heritage, including Wing Chun Martial Arts, microengraving in porcelain, making of Chinese wedding garments, and confection of almond biscuits and preserved fruits, promoting Macao’s valuable intangible cultural heritage and enhancing the dissemination of diverse cultures along the Maritime Silk Road.

The opening ceremony of the “Macao Pavilion” was held today (21 May), and was officiated by the Director of the Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Wan Sucheng; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Leong Wai Man; the Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, Li Lirong; the Member of the Communist Party and Deputy Director of the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, Li Qiangqiang; the Member of the Social Committee and Deputy General Manager of the Business Management Committee of the Shenzhen Press Group, Zhu Yongfeng; and the Director of the China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair Co. Ltd., Zhu Haiquan; and was attended by members of the Cultural Development Consultative Committee, including Ieng Weng Fat, Hoi Kin Wa, Lam Chong, Ho Hoi Leng Cristina, several senior chiefs of the IC; members of the Macao delegation to the “Forum on Building up China’s Cultural Strength 2026”, as well as representatives from Macao’s cultural and creative and fashion industries.
