Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) held the “MPU Careers Day 2026” on 14 April 2026 with the theme “Explore Career Horizons, Strive for Your Dreams”. The event brought together over 100 enterprises from Macao and the Greater Bay Area, covering various industries and offering more than 2,000 job and internship opportunities. By establishing a one-stop career development platform that integrates industry resources and job information, the event enabled students to stay tuned with industry trends and the job market, breathing new life into their career plans while further deepening collaboration between MPU and the broader community.
The opening ceremony of Careers Day 2026 was held in MPU’s auditorium, and was officiated by Cen Jiayi, Director of the Higher Education Division of the Education and Youth Work Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Chan Tze Wai, Deputy Director of the Labour Affairs Bureau; Ieong Iun Lai, Head of Department of Central Provident Fund System of the Social Security Fund; Chio Pou Wai , Head of the Division of Youth Development of the Education and Youth Development Bureau; Vivian Lei, Vice-Rector of Macao Polytechnic University; heads of faculties; and representatives from participating organisations and enterprises, making for a lively ceremony.
In her speech, Vivian Lei, pointed out that 2026 marks the start of the nation’s “15th Five-Year Plan”, and the Macao SAR Government is actively aligning with national planning to accelerate the formulation and implementation of Macao’s “3rd Five-Year Plan.” She emphasised that high-calibre, interdisciplinary, and international talents are crucial in ensuring the smooth implementation of the plan. MPU actively promotes strong alignment between talent development and industry needs, having nurtured a large number of patriotic talents for both the nation and Macao over the years. MPU expresses its sincere gratitude to all government departments and participating organisations for their strong support in jointly creating a practical platform that connects youth with society and enables them to showcase their talents. Vivian Lei encouraged students to seize opportunities, pursue their dreams, and contribute to the development of both the nation and Macao.
Participating students remarked that the event offered a rich and diverse array of activities. The career seminars covered workshops and information on industry trends, resume writing and interview techniques, helping students clarify their professional positioning; the visit to Greater Bay Area enterprises allowed them to step into the frontline of the workplace; while the professional image building workshop enhanced their workplace confidence. During the event, participants were also able to interact closely with enterprise and organisation representatives to discuss job opportunities and potential career paths, receiving immediate advice. These multifaceted activities broadened their horizons and bolstered their confidence, preparing them for job hunting and internships, resulting in a highly rewarding experience.
The Careers Day 2026 featured a comprehensive range of activities, including a job and internship fair, seminars, policy presentation, enterprise visits, and career guidance, providing diversified career support. This year’s event gathered over 100 organisations and companies from Macao and the Greater Bay Area across sectors such as information technology, banking and finance, hospitality, tourism and integrated resorts, telecommunications and aviation, education and training, social services, human resources, and public institutions. These participants offered numerous job and internship opportunities, demonstrating the vitality and broad prospects of the thriving industries in Macao and the Greater Bay Area.
