In order to attract more residents’ interest in visiting museums and enjoying an aesthetic life, the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of its establishment, will hold an artistic event “Art Weekend 2023” on 18 and 19 March, taking the theme of “Art Boundless” which symbolizes the exploration of all Chinese and foreign art, as well as the creativity and sharing of art without borders. Residents are welcome to participate in the two-day event at the MAM to nourish their souls while inspiring new ideas.

The artistic event “Art Weekend 2023” features an array of activities, including “Visual × Music – Interdisciplinary Live Performance”, “Visuals × Images – Documentary Screening”, “Encounter at MAM”, “Family Art Sunday”, “Take a group photo and Share!”, “The Light of Dust – Guided Tour” and “Friends of MAM – Flash Stamp Redemption Activity”.

In “Visual × Music – Interdisciplinary Live Performance”, the programme curator Pal Lok joined hands with the local visual artist Fan Sai Hong and three Macao musicians, namely Iat U Hong, Akitsugu Fukushima and Ivan Wing, to create the interdisciplinary live performance “In the Shadow In the Light”, inspired by the annual exhibition of the MAM “Fang Lijun: The Light of Dust”. This much-anticipated piece is imbued with original music and abstract visual elements, with the sudden lights and shades of the murky world cast in the hall. In addition, the “Visuals × Images – Documentary Screening” will feature three representative art documentaries, including “PAPER & GLUE”, “THE CHINESE LIVES OF ULI SIGG” and “ASCENSION”, allowing the audience to experience the infinite possibilities of artistic imagination, collection and visual presentation of art from the perspective of the renowned French artist JR, the famous collector of contemporary Chinese artworks Uli Sigg and the emerging documentary director Jessica Kingdon.

In the series of activities “Encounter at MAM”, the public will meet members of Macao art group “YiiMa”, Ung Vai Meng and Chan Hin Io, the Director of MAM, Un Sio San, the exhibition coordinator, Tong Chong, the exhibition curator, Ng Fong Chao, and the researcher Kan Pui Ian, in the talks, exploring the exhibitions “Allegory of Dreams – On the Way to the International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia”, “Fang Lijun: The Light of Dust” and “Prelude of Macao’s Modern Style”.
