Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 242,468 as at end-October 2020, an increase of 1.2% year-on-year. Light automobiles (110,606) and heavy motorcycles (101,937) grew by 1.6% and 2.7% year-on-year respectively, whereas light motorcycles (22,590) dropped by 6.5%. New registration of motor vehicles in October rose by 11.9% year-on-year to 1,090, with that of heavy motorcycles (646) rising by 47.8% while that of light automobiles (417) falling by 18.2%. From January to October 2020, new registration of motor vehicles went down by 2.3% year-on-year to 9,891. Number of traffic accidents in October totalled 1,077, with 341 injuries. From January to October this year, there were 8,166 traffic accidents which resulted in 5 deaths and 2,898 injuries.

Cross-border vehicular traffic in October fell by 34.8% year-on-year to 309,282 trips, of which light automobile trips (282,369) and heavy truck trips (25,302) dropped by 33.2% and 12.5% respectively. From January to October 2020, cross-border vehicular traffic declined by 58.9% year-on-year to 1,823,137 trips. Meanwhile, gross weight of containerized cargo by land in October grew by 33.1% year-on-year to 3,255 tonnes, with 99.1% (3,227 tonnes) of cargo passing through the Checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. From January to October this year, gross weight of containerized cargo by land rose by 33.4% year-on-year to 22,223 tonnes.

Gross weight of port containerized cargo decreased by 10.8% year-on-year to 10,594 tonnes in October; cargo being handled at the Ká-Hó Harbour (2,507 tonnes) declined by 57.9% whereas that being shipped through the Inner Harbour (8,087 tonnes) increased by 36.8%. From January to October 2020, gross weight of port containerized cargo dropped by 23.9% year-on-year to 93,868 tonnes.

Arriving and departing commercial flights at the Macau International Airport in October declined by 83.1% year-on-year to 1,032 trips. Air cargo totalled 3,305 tonnes, down by 20.2% year-on-year; gross weight of inward cargo (295 tonnes) and transit cargo (138 tonnes) fell by 55.3% and 77.6% respectively, whereas that of outward cargo (2,873 tonnes) edged up by 0.2%. From January to October 2020, arriving and departing commercial flights dipped by 81.0% year-on-year to 11,534 trips, and air cargo went down by 25.1% to 24,357 tonnes.

As at the end of October 2020, there were 108,524 fixed-line telephone subscribers, a drop of 7.6% year-on-year. Number of mobile phone subscribers decreased by 26.9% year-on-year to 1,654,320, with stored-value GSM card subscribers (824,289) decreasing by 43.9%. Internet subscribers grew by 8.1% year-on-year to 627,279. In October, the duration of internet usage went up by 1.1% year-on-year to 140 million hours. Total duration of internet usage from January to October 2020 reached 1.37 billion hours, a growth of 4.5% year-on-year.
