This morning (22 March), the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) received a petition containing signatures collected by civil entities urging the Bureau to “apply the classification procedures of immovable heritage to the Lai Chi Vun shipyards”. IC will review and analyze the relevant information, and will tackle the issue strictly in accordance with the “Cultural Heritage Protection Law”.

A group of citizens concerned with the protection of the Lai Chi Vun shipyards submitted a petition with suggestions to IC inciting the Bureau to apply the  classification procedures of immovable heritage to the Lai Chi Vun shipyards. IC will conduct a rigorous assessment and analysis of the information according to the legal regulations and procedures of the “Cultural Heritage Protection Law”. In addition, IC will continue to carry out data collection and the environmental mapping work in the Lai Chi Vun shipyard area.
