The Court of Final Appeal will hold ''The Fifth Conference for President of Court of Final Appeal of Portuguese-speaking Countries and Regions'' from 27 to 29 of October.
This is the highest level international legal meeting Macao ever held.
According to the press release by the Court of Final Appeal issued today, delegations led by President of the Court of Final Appeal from eight Portuguese-speaking countries, namely Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, San Tome and Principe and East Timor will attend the conference.
The Chief Executive, the President of Legislative Assembly, major officials and legal professionals will participate in the opening ceremony scheduled on 27 Oct in the World Trade Centre at 09:30.
The conference mainly focuses on discussing the consolidation of Judiciary Independence by the Court's autonomy in administration and finance.
Other issues include the mechanism of regular meeting and the establishment of a standing secretariat.
During their stay in Macao, the delegations will pay visit to the Chief Executive, the Legislative Assembly and the courts, to further understand Macao's legislative and judiciary system.
