Air Cargo flows in Macau are expected to grow

Cooperation between Macau and Singapore in the area of air cargo would continue to strengthen, Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Ao Man-long said on Friday after his 4 - day official visit to Singapore.

Mr. Ao concluded his visit upon arrival at the Macau International airport, revealed that a feasibility study would be conducted on the viability of establishing a "logistic park", in which more convenient and flexible arrangement for handling the import and export cargo.

During the visit, Ao met with the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Singapore and exchanged opinions on issues such as air cargo and logistic park.

When asked about the expansion of cargo station of Macau International Airport, Ao pointed out that following China's accession into WTO, there would be imminent opportunities for the growth of air cargo in the Pearl River Delta region. In this circumstance, facilities in the Macau International Airport will be further enhanced to respond to the increasing demands in the future. Mr. Ao added that the Macau Airport Company have projected the expansion of facilities in the airport.

Mr. Ao led a delegation to Singapore on the 13 February and came back Macau on the 16 February.
