Concerning to Hong Kong and Macau tourists detained in Malaysia, the Macau Government Tourist Office showed their concern and actively conceived the situation.

After the case has happened, the MGTO overseas representative in Malaysia comprehended situations in various aspects and continuously report to the Head Office.

On the other hand, MGTO has received the complaint from Macau resident, pointing out that one of the licensed travel agencies suddenly changed the airline for the return trip, and they also claimed that the service they received was not as the agency promised. In regards to it, MGTO will subsequent the case.

During tourism peak season of Lunar New Year, the Macau International Airport has been playing a role to reduce the crowded situation so to provide a more convenient channel for travelers from Macau and nearby regions.

Many residents from Hong Kong and Macau would travel around during the long Chinese holiday and that makes the well-known airlines fully occupied. Some of the travel agencies therefore used charter flights to carry their customers. In among them, some would choose to have their flights depart from the Macau International Airport, and the charter flight that involved this time is the one that depart from Macau.

Right after the awareness of this matter, MGTO made contacts with the concerned organizations to understand the concrete condition. The Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TICHK) indicated the airline which organize the flights caused the problem, and that it has nothing to do with the operation of the Macau Airport.

Usually, during the tourism peak season, the seats are very tight, and this is the matter that concerned about the transferability between airlines, which is a type of commercial behavior. However, as a government department, MGTO takes the right of residents and tourists seriously. In order to protect their rights, MGTO will collect opinions, study on concerned issue and look forward to avoid the same case from happening.
