Secretary for Security seeks to strengthen cooperation with Thailand

Secretary for Security, Cheong Kuoc Va, left today for a four-day official visit to Thailand in order to strengthen co-operation with Thai police authorities.

Before his departure, Cheong stressed the necessity of reinforcing the joint-efforts with his counterpart in combating regional organized crime.

Cheong said that, during the visit, several issues would be discussed with Thai Police, including cooperation of both sides, Customs affairs, measures to crack-down on illegal immigration, regional crimes and drug trafficking.

According to Cheong, two members of the delegation, the directors of Government Tourist Office, and Identification Department, will take the opportunity to promote tourism of Macau and the Macau SAR passport respectively.

The delegation will meet with Thai officials from the Ministries of Foreign and Home Affairs, National Security Bureau, Thailand Royal Police Bureau, Immigration Office and Customs Authority as well.
