Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) joined the International & French Travel Market Top Resa 2026 (IFTM Top Resa or the “Travel Market”) at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles in Paris, France from 15 to 17 September. At the invitation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Office spotlighted Macao’s destination appeal at the pavilion of “Nihao! China” together with other provinces and municipalities for the first time, which represented a meaningful collaborative showcase. Making its debut at IFTM Top Resa, MGTO leveraged this premier travel trade fair in Europe to offer French and European travel trade a fascinating window onto the Macao SAR’s unique East-meets-West allure in “tourism+”, as part of the continuous dedication to expanding long-haul international visitor markets in Europe and the world.

Showcase World Heritage and City of Gastronomy at Macao presentation session

IFTM Top Resa is one of the most influential travel trade fairs in France and Europe. Embracing the opportunities brought by the rapid national development and trendy waves of China tourism, MGTO leveraged the pavilion of “Nihao! China” set up by China National Tourist Office in Paris to showcase the Macao SAR’s unique cultural tourism resources to international tourism operators. It was the debut of MGTO’s booth at the national pavilion. Furthermore, the Office held a destination presentation session to share the latest travel information. The session featured signature delicacies and Intangible Cultural Heritage shows to offer participants an experience of Macao’s gastronomic culture and heritage, while facilitating industry networking and product matching with French and European tourism operators.

Spotlight Macao’s international destination appeal at national pavilion

Themed as "Modern China: Cities and the Future", the pavilion of “Nihao! China” brought together Chinese mainland provinces and municipalities as well as the Macao SAR for a collaborative showcase of diverse tourism resources. During IFTM Top Resa, different provinces and municipalities including Shanxi, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Beijing, Shanxi and Xinjiang successively held destination presentations which fostered exchange and pragmatic cooperation in tourism and culture between China and France. MGTO capitalized on the platform to engage in collaborative marketing with the Chinese mainland and meet with European tourism businesses for a presentation of multi-destination tourism products.

At the Travel Market, MGTO promoted various facilitative measures for international visitors among the travel trade from worldwide, including China’s visa-free policy for French citizens and the 240-hour visa-free transit policy, to keep raising Macao’s appeal in the international markets.

Destination marketing continues in Europe

Joining various international travel fairs this year

With the positioning of Macao’s development into a world centre of tourism and leisure as endorsed by the Country, MGTO has been actively participating in international travel fairs and promotional events. The Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT) commended Macao as its “Preferred Destination 2026” this year. This year, MGTO successively joined various major travel fairs including FITUR in Spain, Lisbon Travel Market (BTL) in Portugal and ITB Berlin in Germany. In March, with the support of China National Tourist Office in London, MGTO hosted a destination presentation session bringing together cultural creativity and vitality of communities from Macao in London. The Office will participate in the World Travel Market London in November. Marking its latest presence in IFTM Top Resa 2026 in Paris, MGTO keeps tapping into international visitor markets through the synergy of destination branding in international travel fairs, industry networking and offer of cultural experiences.
