The 43rd issue of Books and the City, published by the Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), is now available to the public. Themed “Joyful Reading Community”, this issue introduces the diverse activities and services offered by the Public Library, covering the “Mobile Library” outreach service, the “10-Minute Reading” activities, the “Book Delivery Service” and various outreach activities, showcasing how library services reach into the community and connect with daily life. Members of the public are welcome to pick up the publication.

The section “Library Handbook” reviews the “Macao Just Read · National Reading Campaign Week 2026”, while also introducing the Library's convenient services and spaces, and providing information on venue reservation. The section “Magnifying Glass” highlights newly added electronic resources and several themed book exhibitions to be held in the second half of the year.

In the section “Author's Say”, Dr. Iok Lan Fu Barreto, translator of the Portuguese literary work from Macao Mong-Há, introduces readers the life of Macao in the past written by Henrique de Senna Fernandes, revealing the living conditions of the Portuguese and Chinese communities at that time. In addition, the section “New Launch” not only presents a rich variety of new books and magazines, but also features 10 book reviews in Chinese, Portuguese and English, providing rich reading inspiration to readers.

A total of 3,000 copies of Books and the City are available free of charge at all branch libraries under IC, Macao's higher education institutions, the Tap Seac Gallery, several bookstores and local cultural and art facilities. The digital version can be accessed via the Public Library website: www.library.gov.mo.
