The 7th High-Level Joint Meeting on Postal Services between Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao was successfully held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, on 25 August. The theme of this meeting was: "Working Together with One Heart, Integrating the Greater Bay Area — Advancing High-Quality Development of the Postal Industry in Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao." The opening ceremony was jointly officiated by Guo Dajin, Vice Governor of the Yunnan Provincial Government; Mr. Zhao Chongjiu, the Director of the State Post Bureau, Mr. Liu Aili, Chairman of the China Post Group Corporation Limited, Ms. Tai Shuk Yiu, Postmaster General of Hongkong Post and Mr. Lao Lan Wa, Acting Director of the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT Macao).

Acting Director Lao Lan Wa stated in his opening address that as China enters the new phase of the “15th Five-Year Plan,” the Macao SAR Government is fully propelling its “3rd Five-Year Plan,” with the development of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin opening up new horizons for Macao’s appropriate economic diversification. CTT Macao will continue to support the integrated development of Macao and Hengqin, focus on optimizing mail handling processes, and further expand cross-border postal routes and transport networks. Looking ahead, Macao will leverage its unique role as an important window for national opening-up and a service platform for commercial and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, actively integrating into the overall national development.

This meeting focused on a number of key topics, covering the overall situation and development of each postal administration, promoting the sharing of postal resources between Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, building an efficient and intensive cross-border logistics system for the Greater Bay Area, developing land port hubs in the Greater Bay Area, and sharing practical experiences in technological innovation and development of postal services among the three regions.

During the meeting, the three postal administrations reached seven important consensuses: first, deepening institutional cooperation to jointly promote high-quality development; second, jointly building an efficient and intensive cross-border logistics system for the Greater Bay Area; third, jointly developing land port hubs in the Greater Bay Area; fourth, coordinating the development of transit mail and self-pickup mail services; fifth, strengthening joint prevention and control of security risks for mail and express items to build a solid cross-border security barrier; sixth, enriching cultural exchange and cooperation in postal services between Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao; and seventh, strengthening personnel exchanges in postal services between the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.
