The Financial Intelligence Office of the Unitary Police Service (GIF) coordinated with member agencies of the Interdepartmental Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism Working Group (AML/CFT WG) to form a delegation representing “Macao, China” as a member of the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) at the 2026 Annual Meeting in Brunei Darussalam from 27 to 31 July 2026.
This APG Annual Meeting focused on discussions of the latest mutual evaluation reports of 3 member jurisdictions, alongside in-depth exchanges on several key topics. These included long-term resource planning, business plan and budget proposal, follow-up process for mutual evaluations, as well as the latest trends and typologies in money laundering and terrorist financing. The Macao, China delegation consisted of representatives from 9 agencies of the AML/CFT WG, namely the Public Prosecutions Office, the Commission against Corruption of Macao, the Macao Customs Service, the Monetary Authority of Macao, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, the Economic and Technological Development Bureau, the Judiciary Police, the Public Security Police Force and the GIF. Representatives from the GIF participated in various discussions on behalf of Macao, China, sharing their experience in engaging with the APG, as well as actively speaking and offering opinions at the meeting.
In addition, to further deepen cooperation with jurisdictions across the Asia-Pacific region, the GIF held bilateral meetings with representatives from multiple jurisdictions during the APG Annual Meeting. These meetings facilitated the exchange of practical experiences and preparatory work related to mutual evaluations, enhancing bilateral cooperation and information sharing.
Looking ahead, GIF will continue to collaborate with the AML/CFT WG members to actively participate in international conferences and training programs, so as to ensure alignment with the latest standards and requirements of international anti-money laundering organizations. These efforts will support preparations for Macao, China’s upcoming new round of mutual evaluation. Meanwhile, GIF will continue to advance legislative amendments related to the prevention and suppression of money laundering.
