To leverage the empowering role of investment promotion in industrial development and promote the cross-sector synergy of “MICE + Tourism”, the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) of the Macao Special Administrative Region participated in the “Experience Macao Roadshow in Madrid” organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) in Madrid, Spain. IPIM set up a booth to showcase the strategic positioning and investment opportunities of the Macao-Hengqin synergistic development to local and international investors. Additionally, IPIM organised a delegation of 120 entrepreneurs to attend this gala.
This large-scale tourism promotion event was held from 17 to 21 April (local time) at Puente del Rey, a pedestrian area in central Madrid. IPIM’s booth, covering an area of 36 square metres, utilised multi-media displays, on-site presentations, and policy consultations to advertise the “Macao + Hengqin” strategic positioning and the advantages of the “MICE2 Macao x Hengqin” brand. The booth also introduced favourable policies such as the second phase of the “Scheme for Supporting the Development of Macao First-Store Economy”, which will accept applications starting from 1 May, assisting interested enterprises in aligning their investment layouts with their business plans. On-site consultation services were also provided, with IPIM staff actively assisting merchants in gaining a deeper understanding of Macao’s business environment, industrial facilities, and market opportunities, thereby fostering multi-language and multi-sector economic and trade co-operation. The booth received nearly 100 inquiries during the event, with approximately 30% of them focusing on industrial development and the investment environment.
31st MIF to Feature Spanish-speaking Countries Pavilion for the First Time
Furthermore, IPIM seized this opportunity to intensify promotion and recruit Spanish merchants for the “31st Macao International Trade & Investment Fair” (31st MIF), to be held in Macao this October. This year’s MIF will feature a Spanish-speaking Countries Pavilion for the first time and organise forums to promote co-operation between China and Spanish-speaking countries, further fulfilling Macao’s role as a “precise connector” for China-Spanish-speaking countries co-operation.
