Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for February 2026

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average occupancy rate of guest rooms of hotel establishments stood at 94.6% in February 2026, an uplift of 4.0 percentage points year-on-year. The rates for 5-star (96.5%), 4-star (93.7%) and 3-star hotels (90.9%) showed respective year-on-year growth of 2.8 percentage points, 8.6 percentage points and 3.6 percentage points.

Number of guests of hotel establishments increased by 10.1% year-on-year to 1,226,000 in February; those from the Chinese mainland (955,000) and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (124,000) rose by 11.8% and 6.6% respectively. Meanwhile, international guests (81,000) dropped by 5.7% year-on-year; among them, those from Japan (5,000) went down by 32.5%, while those from the Republic of Korea (30,000) and Thailand (6,000) went up by 1.3% and 0.6% respectively.

In February, number of inbound package tour visitors totalled 134,000, down by 8.6% year-on-year. As more Mainland visitors travelled to the Macao Special Administrative Region under the Individual Visit Scheme, number of inbound package tour visitors from the Chinese mainland fell by 10.0% to 112,000.

In the first two months of 2026, the average occupancy rate of guest rooms of hotel establishments was 93.1%, up by 2.4 percentage points year-on-year. Number of guests increased by 4.5% year-on-year to 2,477,000, of which international guests (210,000) rose by 12.9%. A total of 272,000 inbound package tour visitors were recorded in the first two months, down by 11.3% year-on-year; yet, international tour visitors grew by 14.9% to 42,000.
