教青局提醒學校和教育機構做好防災工作
The DSEJ reminds schools and education institutions to implement disaster prevention work properly
In accordance with the forecast of the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau, the tropical cyclone “Higos” has approached Macao, and Typhoon Signal No.3 and yellow storm surge warning have been issued. In this morning (18th August), the DSEJ contacted all the persons-in-charge of schools, continuing education institutions and tutorial centres through phone calls, text messages and emails to request them to properly implement the contingency measures for the typhoon and flooding as soon as possible, including installing waterproof gates, cleaning the drains, placing the electronic equipment, valuables and documents at higher places, stopping the lifts on higher floors, and so forth. In order to ensure the safety of the public, the DSEJ also sent staff to inspect the schools in which construction works are being implemented. Schools are urged to request the contractors to reinforce the scaffolds, working platforms, and so forth.
The DSEJ ties in with the policy of the SAR Government on disaster prevention and mitigation, and continuously promotes schools and education institutions to implement corresponding measures, formulate school-based disaster prevention plans and conduct drills, so as to enhance the response capacity of teachers and students.
