2018 MIECF Green Business Co-operation Day on Thursday Providing a Forum for Discussion on the Development of Green Tourism and Green MICE

Many enterprises started mainstreaming environment protection in recent years. The “2018 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2018MIECF) will have a series of events in the “Green Business Co-operation Day”, including the Green Forum and agreement signing ceremonies, which will be held on Thursday, 12th April at 14:30 in the Sicily Room of the Venetian Macao. The Forum will invite pioneers and experts in the field of environmental protection to discuss with the audience the eco-development model and the efficiency of the tourism and MICE industry. It is now open for registration.   

The Forum includes two sessions, namely “Green Economy – Sustainable Development of Tourism” and “New Pattern in MICE Industry under Eco-Cities Model”. As the global tourism market is growing and the MICE industry is emerging, the community, while enjoying the subsequent economic benefits, still holds a concern about environmental protection. By referring to cases at home and abroad, the Forum will discuss how the tourism and MICE industry and other related industries such as hospitality, catering, transportation, apply green technologies and green management that help enhance cost-efficiency and boost business opportunities.   

Speakers of Session 1 (Tourism Industry) include moderator Mr. António Trindade, Founding President of Macao Association of Environmental Protection Industry, Mr. Des Pugson, Managing Director of Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts (Singapore), Mr. Tim Huang, CEO of Greater China of SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions, Mr. Victor C. Li, Vice President of the Hong Kong Environmental Industry Association cum Business Development Director of Dunwell Enviro-Tech (Holdings) Ltd., Mr. Henry Yip, IT Division General Manager of Macao Newland Technology Co., Ltd., and Mr. He Hanbing, General Manager of Information Technology Division of Macau Newland Technology Co., Ltd.;

Session 2 (MICE Industry) will invite Mr. Tony Lam (moderator), President of the Macau Fair & Trade Association, Mr. Zhang Zhe, Deputy Director of the Exhibition Industry Promotion Division, Circulation Industry Promotion Center, MOFCOM, Ms. Shirlena Wee Ling SOH, Executive Director of the Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS), Mr. Mark Cochrane, UFI Regional Manager, Asia Pacific, Mr. Rishi Tirupari, Director of Sustainability, Sands China Ltd., and Prof. Michael K. H. Leung, Associate Dean, School of Energy and Environment, City University of Hong Kong.

A series of signing ceremonies on eco-industrial co-operation will take place on the same day in the afternoon in the Exhibition Hall A of the Venetian Macao.
