Secretary for Economy and Finance Francis Tam today (18 October) said that the Macao SAR Government would fully support the cooperation between Macao Jockey Club (MJC) and Hong Kong Jockey Clubs (HKJC) to have mutual development.
The clubs made a joint announcement yesterday saying both sides had achieved consensus on cooperation. Two clubs would continue to study the feasibility of MJC to become a simulcast venue for Hong Kong racing and having punters in Macau betting on Hong Kong racing.
In response to the media, Mr. Tam said that this was the first step of cooperation between the two clubs, adding that there would be more space in cooperation in the near future. As for the concrete cooperation, he said the Government was still waiting for a detailed proposal from the MJC.
