  • The peak of this year’s Perseid meteor shower season was on Wednesday and Thursday (12 and 13 August). To mark it, Macao Science Center hosted a stargazing event at the Hac Sá Long Chao Kok Coastal Trail in Coloane.

  • A large crowd of astronomy enthusiasts, some with cameras, gathered at the Coloane site, eager to see the Perseid meteor shower streaking across Macao’s night sky.

  • Macao Science Center regularly invites local astronomy experts to share insights into stars and space, and promote knowledge regarding meteor showers and astronomical observation.

  • Stargazers search for the Perseus constellation.

  • Amateur astronomers gaze skyward while focusing their cameras, hoping to capture the meteor shower.

  • Cloud cover always carries a risk of obscuring otherwise-visible meteors and makes capturing them on camera particularly challenging. Nonetheless, images of Macao’s night sky turned out to be uniquely captivating in their own right.
