The International Youth Dance Festival 2019 took place from 20 to 25 July. It was part of “Art Macao”, a large-scale arts and cultural event featuring　a diversity of exhibitions, and musical and theatrical performances. “Art Macao” is promoted by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), in partnership with a number of hotels and integrated resorts across the city, and foreign consulates.

The International Youth Dance Festival 2019 took as its theme “Marvellous Dance for the 20th Anniversary of Macao's Handover to China”. It is to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR.

Young performers from countries and places covered by the “Belt and Road” initiative joined the festival, delivering remarkable performances to audiences in Macao.

A total of 16 dance groups from outside Macao and 10 local troupes took part in the festival, showcasing their artistic talent. The event promotes cultural and artistic exchanges between the participants, and the formation of new friendships.
