  • The Government is committed to assisting local young people wishing to start innovation-focused projects or other businesses. The Government’s 2019 Policy Address outlines a number of measures to support innovation and entrepreneurship.

  • The Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre is one of the Government’s initiatives to provide diversified facilities and services to support local entrepreneurship. It was set up in 2017 and has a National Co-working Space, launched in October last year. It was the first of its kind in Hong Kong and Macao, as designated by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China.

  • The Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre is located at the Outer Harbour Reclamation Area (NAPE), and has 1,300 square metres of space. It offers shared office facilities, a lecture hall and a hall for ‘roadshow’ events aimed at investors.

  • The shared office space at the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre is open for use 24 hours a day. The setup means Centre users can meet and exchange ideas at their convenience.

  • The Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre has a garden, enabling young entrepreneurs to brainstorm and to exchange ideas in a relaxing environment.

  • Promoters of entrepreneurial projects or workers at small- and medium-sized enterprises can access the resources and services of the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre once they have undergone an evaluation process.

  • As of end-February 2019, approximately 90 projects were being run either by registered Centre members or companies. Around 53 percent of the projects related to the science and technology sector; 17 percent to the commerce and service sector; and 10 percent to cultural industries.

  • The Government provides a wide range of services to young entrepreneurs. They include support regarding legal, tax, accounting, and consulting matters; one-stop services to help start a company; coaching from expert advisors; roadshow marketing and investor-investee matching.

  • The Centre also assists young people by inviting respected domestic and foreign experts and scholars to participate in events such as “CEO Lunch”, “Hatch a Unicorn”, “CEO Training Camp”, “Startup”, and other innovation and entrepreneurial coaching- and training-related activities.

  • The Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre has also organised entrepreneurship competitions in order to identify fresh innovation-related projects and assist existing businesses to expand.
