  • The Macao Special Administrative Region Government continues to advance the development of electronic administration, aiming to establish modern, service-orientated governance. It has set up seven 24-hour self-service centres across Macao, to provide more convenient access to public services.

  • The seven 24-hour self-service centres collectively provide 58 new self-service machines, including for document collection, and multifunctional self-service kiosks offering various services. These facilities provide convenience for Macao residents for tasks such as applying for identity cards, travel documents, and other services available on a self-service basis.

  • Each service centre deploys staff to provide on-site guidance to people on how to apply for, and collect, documents via the machines. Additionally, there are information kiosks and instructional videos available on site, to provide detailed explanations of the services available at the self-service machines. Emergency inquiry hotlines are also installed on site, for those who require assistance.

  • The new self-service application machines represent an upgrade in terms of hardware and software. Additional functions available include height measurement and fingerprint collection. Moreover, the operational steps required, and user interface, have been optimised to expand the machines’ appeal to the public, and enhance the machines’ user-friendliness, as well as the convenience of using them.

  • Whether people complete an application process either at a staffed service counter, or through a self-service application machine, they may opt to collect their documents from any of the service centres at any time of day or night, so that they can experience the Government’s goal of “one-stop application and collection”.

  • The multifunctional self-service kiosks at each 24-hour service centre offer a wide range of functions. So far, they cover a total of 38 services in seven categories involving 11 departments: identification verification, social welfare inquiries, tax inquiries, municipal affairs topics, voter registration, transport information, and immigration services. There are also separate self-service machines available for residents to use, specific to various Government departments.
