The Government of the Macao SAR and the Government of Romania have reached a mutual visa-free agreement. From 1 January 2002, holders of the Macao SAR Passport are granted visa-free access to enter Romania and stay for up to 90 days. Holders of Romanian Diplomatic Passport, Service Passport and Regular Passport are also granted visa-free access to enter Macao SAR and stay for maximum 90 days. The above-mentioned mutual abolition of visa requirements are granted provided that the purpose of stay is not study, employment or any other kind of gainful activity.

The Government of the Macao SAR and the Government of Romania hope that mutual abolition of visa requirements will further promote bilateral ties of business, trade and tourism.

Romania is the first country granting visa-free access to the holders of Macao SAR Passport in 2002.
