No Case of Atypical Pneumonia Diagnosed In Macao

The Director of Health Bureau, Koi Kuok Ieng confirmed today (11 Feb) that no case of atypical pneumonia had been diagnosed in Macao up to this afternoon.

He also said that the Zhuhai authority had confirmed that no case has been found in Zhuhai up to that point.

The Health Bureau held a joint meeting with the two hospitals in the territory this afternoon to discuss the precaution to the atypical pneumonia happened in Guangdong province recently.

Mr. Koi said after the meeting that the authority was closely monitoring the situation and had taken proper precautions such as advising the public against respiratory infectious disease and issuing guideline to doctors in hospitals and private clinics on handling cases suspected to be atypical pneumonia.

Mr. Koi reminded the public to remain calm and to follow the advice issued by the bureau yesterday, which focuses on maintaining personal and environmental hygiene and adequate nutrition.

He reiterated that the authority was able to respond to unexpected situation and could call on neighbouring regions for support when necessary.
