The Health Bureau today (22 Dec) announced that a second imported case of Dengue fever was found and urges the public to prevent against the disease.
The Health Bureau said that the case involved a man who contracted the disease during a trip out of the SAR between 26 November to 14 December. He developed headache and rash on 11 December and came back to Macao for further medial treatment on 14 December. As the patient traveled outside Macau during the incubation period and the case was classified as an imported one.
This is the second imported Dengue fever case found this year. The first imported case was found in April. The patient is in stable condition after the medial treatment.
The Health Bureau urged the public to take precautionary measures against mosquito bites by wearing long-sleeved clothes and long trousers when travel in Southeast Asian countries where the disease spreads all year round.
Measures against the spreading of dengue fever such as mosquito eradications and disinfections were continued this year by the authority in addition to constant monitoring on spreading of mosquitoes. Meanwhile, the public were reminded to keep their living atmosphere clean.
