The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, today met with the Vice Chairman of the 11th National Committee of the CPPCC and Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC, Mr Wan Gang, to exchange views on development of environmental protection and the environmental industry.
Mr Chui welcomed Mr Wan’s presence at the 2012 Macao International Environmental Cooperation Exhibition and Forum (MIECF) and thanked the Ministry for the long term support on Macao’s development, adding that the Government would continue to promote works on environmental protection and the environmental industry.
He then gave Mr Wan a brief update on the process of regional co-operation, especially the building of Macau University’s new campus on Hengqin and the Chinese Traditional Medicine Scientific and Industrial Park.
Mr Wan said that through participating in 2012 MIECF he could feel the Macao Government’s high regard for environmental protection, and such works had moved forward step by step.
He pointed out the great potential in the development of the environmental industry, and thus Macao should make good use of its advantage—a co-operation with the Portuguese-speaking countries, to promote the industry.
The Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Mr Lau Si Io, the Chief-of-Cabinet of the Office of the Chief Executive, Mr Tam Chon Weng, the Secretary-General of the Executive Council, Ms O Lam also attended the meeting.
