Disciplinary actions have been launched against civil servants involved in the operation of the Motor Vehicle Tax Assessment Committee, according to a statement issued by the Government today.
The Government was aware that the report issued by the Commission of Audit concerning the operation of the Motor Vehicle Tax Assessment Committee had raised concern among the community.

In accordance to the result of the investigation, the Government would deal with the civil servants involved in a severe manner, to reflect the accountability of the Government.
The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Francis Tam Pak Yuen, had fully reviewed the operation of the Motor Vehicle Tax Assessment Committee and issued guidelines to enhance its operation.
He had also advised the Government to issue the same guidelines to other government-led committees.
