The Chief Executive, Edmund Ho and Principal Officials of security today（14 Mar）awarded 110 outstanding police officers and 8 residents who contribute in fighting against crimes.

The Chief Executive, were invited to join the police heads and other honorable guests in the celebration of 312 anniversary of the Public Security Police Bureau, during which he also reviewed a guard of honor.

The Acting Commander of the Public Security Police Bureau, Lei Siu Peng said in his speech that Optimization, efficiency and training are the main emphases of the MSAR Police Authority in the future.

On the other hand, the Public Security Police Bureau would strengthen its interaction with the community, through broader communication with civic associations and schools, said Lei Siu Peng.

On discipline, he stressed that the Public Security Police Bureau is strict and fair in meting out rewards and punishment, and that all officers should not be proud of their own achievements and should not be self-forgiven with their own fault.

In 2002, a total of 413 officers were rewarded with holidays and promotion, while 307 were subjected to disciplinary measures, which is a drop of 35.6% versus the record in 2001, he said.

On carrying out the law enforcement and inspection mandate, Lei Siu Peng said that the Public Security Police Bureau in 2002 had submitted 3,746 cases to the local jurisdiction. At the same time, the Public Security Police Bureau had commenced inspections on 3,540 criminal cases, at the request of the Public Prosecution Office.
