The Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Mr. Li Ruihuan encouraged Macao people to exploit the uniqueness and hidden potential of Macao in order to overcome the challenges and achieve continuous development.
Li Ruihuan began his speech at the welcoming banquet hosted by SAR Government this evening (7 Jan.) greeting the guests and the people of Macao.
Li Ruihuan affirmed the work of the SAR Government in the past three years, saying that he is pleased to see that significant improvements have been achieved in economy, social order and the well being of the residents.
Li Ruihuan also noted that Macao will be facing challenges on the path of implementing “One Country Two Systems” policy, yet he was confident that if the People of Macao could exploit the uniqueness and hidden potentials of Macao, identifying itself from other places and embrace pragmatism, Macao would overcome all the challenges and achieve continued development, and thus successfully implement the “One Country Two Systems” policy.
He said that the SAR’s achievement would serve as experience for solving the Taiwan issue and noted that Macao, as well as Hong Kong, has an irreplaceable role in the reform and modernization of China, and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Chief Executive Edmund Ho said that in the past three years, with the support of the Central Government and the endeavor of the residents, the SAR had overcome the odds and once again set pace on the path of development.
He also said that the relationship between the Macao SAR and the Mainland has moved into a new era upon the sound foundation of the “One Country Two Systems” principal, and the SAR Government would always adhere to this principal and strictly abide with the Basic Law, and to make Macao a part in the overall development of the motherland and contribute to her unity.

Li Ruihuan will meets with local community leaders and attends the 90the anniversary celebration of the Macao Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.
