21 bidders to runs for 3 gaming concessions in the SAR

The Tender Committee for the Casino-operator Concession has received 21 tenders for casino operation up to the closure of the public tender process at 5:45 today (7 Dec).

Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr. Francis Tam Pak Yuen who chairs the committee said that the result is satisfying.

He also said that representatives of the bidders would be invited to witness the opening of tenders on Monday (10 Dec).

According to the Chief Executive's Administrative Order no. 217/2001, Qualified bidders will go through an assessment and selection procedure on the basis of the overall interest of the Macao SAR, bidders' investment plans and their commitments, their premiums, their contributions to the various developments of Macao and the training of professionals, etc.

Moreover, the contribution of the plans to the diversity of tourism products would also be considered.

Mr. Tam also emphasized that experience in gaming operation of the bidders would be an important consideration.

Qualified bidders are obliged to provided a financial guarantee of one million patacas by means of cash deposit, bank guarantee or insurance.

Provisional concessions would be granted by the Chief Executive according to the evaluation of the committee on individual plans, and the SAR Government would grant the operation concessions afterward.

According to the aforesaid Administrative Order, three concessions would be granted with concessions of no longer then 20 years.

3. Grand Macau Gaming Limited

4. MGM Mirage Macao

5. Wynn Resorts (Macau) Limited

6. Baia da Nossa Senhora Entertainment Company Limited

7. Macau Luen Hing Gaming Company Limited

8. Galaxy Casino Company Limited

9. Asian American Entertainment Corporation Limited

10. Sociedade de Jogos de Macau,S.A (Macau Gaming Holding Company)
