Chief Executive to attend APEC CEO Summit 2001

Chief Executive Edmund Ho is scheduled to leave for Shanghai on 17 October to attend the APEC CEO Summit 2001.

Mr. Ho will deliver his speech entitled "Macau in the New Century" on 18 October during the CEO Summit, during which he will discuss the status of Macau after its reunification with China and how its economy will develop in synergy with the Mainland in the new century.

The APEC CEO Summit will be held from 18 to 20 October in Shanghai, with the main theme being "Meeting New Challenges in the New Century: Achieving Common Prosperity through Participation and Cooperation." This is the first time that the APEC CEO Summit is being held in Asia.

The Secretary for Public Administration and Justice, Florida Chan, will be the Acting Chief Executive from 17 to 21 October.
