The Identification Department of the Government of the Macao SAR was informed by the Consulate General of Japan in Hong Kong that in order to further promote personnel exchange between Japan and Macao, the Japanese Government decided that, effective from 3 October 2001, the maximum period of validity for multiple entry tourist visas would be extended from 1 year to 3 years.

The Japanese Government hopes that the above-mentioned arrangement will make the travel of the holders of the Macao SAR Passport to Japan easier and more convenient.

The holders of Macao SAR Passport can currently obtain a multiple entry tourist visa to Japan valid for max. 1 year.
