UM students win first prize at Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao BIM Application Competition

Two student teams from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering (FEG) at the University of Macau (UM) won a first prize and a second prize at the 2025 First Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao BIM Application Competition. The competition received a total of 376 entries from higher education institutions across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, with 23 first prizes, 40 second prizes, and 60 third prizes awarded.

Two teams of master’s students from FEG participated in the competition. Under the guidance of Wong Mun On and Pan Mi, assistant professors in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in FEG, the team formed by Zhou Shaobin, Zhang Yixuan, and Gu Yanru won a first prize, while the team formed by Ji Qin, Zhu Jinjing, and Shen Ming won a second prize. Their projects, which explored the use of BIM-based forward design for university teaching buildings, demonstrated exceptional technical skills and innovative design methods, earning the teams their respective awards.

The competition was jointly organised by the Guangdong BIM Technology Alliance, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Building Technology Alliance, the Construction Industry Council (Hong Kong), the Civil Engineering Laboratory of Macau, the Guangdong Construction Industry Association, the Guangdong Engineering Exploration and Design Association, the Guangdong Engineering Cost Association, the Guangdong Construction Technology and Standardization Association, and the Guangdong Association of Green and Prefabricated Building Development. It was hosted by Guangdong Research Institute of Building Science Group Co., Ltd.
