The CCAC unveiled a case of document forgery involving a public servant. Following investigation, it was found that the suspect was an assistant officer who had earlier participated in his/her department’s promotion examination. After the written examination, the suspect, finding the office was vacant, corrected the answer in his/her examination paper in attempt to obtain a higher score to increase the chance of promotion. The act of the suspect allegedly constituted the offence of document forgery.

After technical verification, it was proved that the handwriting involving the corrected part matched the suspect’s. During investigation, someone confessed committing the offence.

According to the Penal Code, offenders of document forgery shall be liable to imprisonment for a maximum term of three years. The CCAC has referred the case to the Public Prosecutions Office.
